And the ones He is pleased with are the companions (Sahaaba). Whenever Allaah mentions tese words, this is what is meant. Thus the literal/linguistic meaning of "رَّضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ" means "Allaah was pleased with THEM" and they were pleased with HIM".
I don't want to go into the 14 forms of the pronouns here :) رَّضِيَ عن = He was pleased with (and it is used in the past tense)Īdding the pronouns "ه" and "هم" respectively mean "He" and "Them". Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they willĪbide forever.
